One-make racing in Malaysia steps up in 2025 with the introduction of the GR86 Cup Malaysia Series which will feature the latest Toyota GR86 sports coupe model.
GR86 CUP SERIES
Organized by Haro Sports and Entertainment Sdn Bhd, the premier GR86 Cup Malaysia Series will make its debut as a support race with two 10-lap races during the Malaysian round of the 2025 SUPER GT Series from 26-28 June 2025.
PETRONAS SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT
Two more rounds are scheduled for the year with Round 2 to be held in conjunction with the Malaysia Championship Series 300km race and Round 3’s grand finale being an 86-lap race. All three rounds will be held at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit.

IMPORTED DIRECTLY FROM JAPAN
Limited to the first 30 units (on a first come, first serve basis), the brand new GR86 Cup cars are imported directly from Japan and are priced at RM208,315.00 (delivered to the Petronas Sepang International Circuit) inclusive of motorsport AP and sales tax.
SPECIFIC FOR TRACK USE
These cars and its components are designed specifically for track use only and are strictly forbidden to be used on public roads. The GR86 Cup cars are also built in compliance with the 2025 Malaysian Championship Series SP1 category.
Powered by a high-revving, four-cylinder “boxer” unit naturally-aspirated flat-four petrol engine with Toyota’s D-4S direct and port injection system, the GR86 Cup car has increased displacement to gain a significant boost in power and torque. Weighing in at approximately 1290kg (with driver), the car has a 2,387 cm³ engine producing 228 HP @ 7,000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque @3,700 rpm. Performance is further enhanced with Fujitsubo’s full exhaust system.
FOR DRIVER
Drive is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and Torsen limited-slip rear differential. The transmission has also been upgraded to cope with the rigors of competition with a single plate competition clutch manufactured by Cusco and the use of a transmission cooler system.
The electronic throttle settings have been optimized to improve controllability and response when the driver operates the accelerator, while the electric power steering control enhanced to improve road tracking and stability against large inputs.
BRAKES?
Stopping power comes in the form of monobloc type four-piston (front) and two-piston (rear) Advics brake calipers machined from a single solid piece of advance aluminum for ultimate high-performance braking. Complementing these advance calipers are the two piece design 345 x 30mm front discs and conventional one piece but enlarged 330 x 26mm rear discs.
KW RACING SHOCK ABSORBERS
All GR86 Cup cars come equipped with KW Racing shock absorbers featuring inverted struts technology for strength and rigidity, with TRD suspension bushes for precise suspension movement.
The GR86 Cup cars will use 225/45R17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-71RS tyres for the ultimate cornering grip fitted to 8jj x 17″ inch race proven Raxer RP10X forged alloy wheels designed to be lightweight and durable.
GR86 SAFETY
For safety, the GR86 Cup car is fitted with a specially designed roll cage and has 6 basic points and side bars on the driver’s and passenger’s side. The roll cage complies with JAF domestic competition vehicle regulations “Speed B” and “Speed SA”. The design is 40mm, exceeding the minimum pipe diameter of 35mm required by JAF, ensuring safety.
Occupant safety is also enhanced with the use of fire suppression systems, the latest FIA approved model Bride ZETA series bucket seat and 6-point Hans Compatible safety harness.
